Dating Our Way To the Altar

Amongst adoring family and friends in the elegant Grand Ballroom of Cary's Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, author Suzette R. Hinton and Mr. Robert Anthony Vearnon, Jr., declared their love and commitment in a marriage ceremony on December 27, 2014 at 4:00p.m.  Coincidentally or not so coincidentally, this was also the bride's 55th birthday.

Without the pageantry and fanfare of most weddings, this wedding of 50 guests was simply elegant, the theme chosen by the bride and groom from the very start.  "So much is commercialized especially during the holiday season and weddings are big business," says the newly wedded Mrs. Vearnon.  "We wanted guests who have a stake in our story and could connect with the miracle of our love."

The Vearnons who proudly tout love after 50 credit Teresa McCalop and her Totally Beautiful Moments Weddings & Events (TBM) team of vendors with bringing their vision to fruition.  They are:

  • Micheal McCalop, Logistics Manager, TBM
  • Lisa Jacobs, Sales & Events Coordinator, Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites
  • Timothy Andrews, DJ & Musician, DJ Inferno Productions
  • Judie Kendricks, Wedding Cake Decorator, Judie's Cakes
  • Kenneth Ferguson, Photographer, JMF Photography
  • Lossie Dupree, Event/Floral Designer, Dupree's Creations
Bringing a unique spiritual quality to the ceremony was officiant, Rev. Angela Airall.  A Life Cycle Celebrant and Interfaith Minister, Rev. Angela assisted the couple with creating vows representative of their love evolution.  "We didn't want traditional vows," says this couple who aren't ashamed of their nonconventional path.  For early in their dating, the couple sought Ronella Ellis, MS, LMFT, who couldn't attend the wedding due to being in her final trimester of pregnancy, for help.  "Ronella reframed every relationship challenge as an opportunity to write our own love story.  It was only befitting that we write our own vows."
